Juan Mata off to Barcelona?

Mata linked with Spain return

Barcelona are reportedly heading the queue to sign midfielder Juan Mata from Manchester United. The 28-year-old's future hangs in the balance following the appointment of Jose Mourinho as the Red Devils' new head coach.

The Spaniard failed to make the cut under the 'Special One' at former club Chelsea, and was subsequently offloaded to Manchester United in January 2014. Since then, he has been a key performer for the Mancunian giants and this has earned him plaudits from the club's faithful.

Mundo Deportivo says Barcelona will look to take advantage of Mata's situation and seek to lure him to Camp Nou over the summer.

It is yet to be known whether Mourinho would fancy having Mata in his first-team squad for the 2016/17 campaign.

Mata was on the scoresheet as United trumped Crystal Palace by a 2-1 scoreline in the FA Cup final earlier this month.
