Could Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez be on his way to Italy

With Real Madrid yesterday confirming that they will be exercising their buy-back option on Juventus striker Alvaro Morata, the Italian champions are weighing up a swoop for Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez to replace the outgoing Spaniard.

Morata will return to Madrid and Juventus will receive €30 million for the transfer. The Old Lady were keen to hang on to the 23-year-old striker who scored the winning goal in last season's Coppa Italia final, but they were powerless to stop Madrid from taking him back.

So now they turn their attention to potential replacements, and reports in Italy today suggest that Alexis Sanchez is a preferred option.

Sky Italia claim that Juve had considered Everton's Romelu Lukaku and Paris Saint Germain's Edinson Cavani as potential acquisitions, but both men are perceived as being out of the Bianconeri's price-range.

But Juventus feel that Sanchez is a realistic target, and they think a bid of around €55 million will be enough to convince Arsenal to part ways with the dynamic attacker they signed from FC Barcelona two years ago.

Sanchez is currently on international duty with Chile at the Copa America in the USA, so any potential transfer will have to wait until they player's participation in the tournament is over.

Chile are set to face Colombia in the semi-final of the centenary edition of the South American championship, as they look to defend they title they won on home soil last year.
