Liverpool target move for Lucas Moura

Lucas Moura news

Could Liverpool be about to swoop for PSG's Moura?

Lucas Moura could be about to emerge as a serious summer target for Liverpool, according to FootballWhispers.com, a website which utilises a bespoke algorithm to predict transfer activity.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is known to be in the market for a speedy winger this summer, with previous links to Andros Townsend, Theo Walcott and Sadio Mané.

But Paris Saint Germain's Brazilian forward Lucas Moura could be another option for Klopp.

With the relative disappointment of last season's eighth-place Premier League finish, the former Borussia Dortmund manager is keen to bolster his squad to make a push for Champions League qualification during the next campaign.

Reports are suggesting that Newcastle United's Townsend is not on Klopp's wish-list, while Arsenal remain keen to keep hold of England international Walcott.

Mané is believed to be Liverpool's number one target during the summer transfer window, but Southampton's £40 million asking price may prove to be prohibitive to any deal.

So Moura, who signed for PSG in 2013, may be a legitimate alternative for the Anfield club.

The French champions fought off interest from Manchester United three years ago to land the gifted Brazilian, but, last season's addition of Angel di Maria has meant that Moura is no longer seen as first-choice for the right-wing position at the Parc des Princes.

And as PSG are linked to moves for Hatem Ben Arfa and Antoine Griezmann during the close-season, Moura's first-team prospects could be further reduced by the time the new Ligue 1 season kicks off in August.

A move to the cash-rich Premier League seems like an obvious fit, and Liverpool would be at the front of the queue should Moura decide to call time of his stay in Paris.
