Man City set to swoop for Stones and Sané

Pep Guardiola news

Guardiola eying spectacular double swoop.

Manchester City are set to take their summer spending past the £100 million mark, as they preapare to make moves for young stars John Stones and Leroy Sané, according to reports in the English press.

The Mirror claims that new City boss Pep Guardiola is ready to splash out around £80 million on deals for Everton defender Stones and Schalke 04 winger Sané.

Guardiola is believed to be a big admirer of 21-year-old centre-back Stones, and he sees the young defender's ability to carry the ball out of defence and make accurrate forward passes as a key component of the side he is looking to build.

Everton are likely to demand at least £40 million for the defender who endured a topsy-turvy campaign under Roberto Martínez last season.

Schalke's Sané is also thought to be high on Guardiola's summer wish list, with the pacey 20-year-old also likely to command a fee of around £40 million.

Sané enjoyed a breakout season in the Bundesliga during 2015-16 and his impressive performances earnt the young man a call-up to Joachim Lowe's Germany squad for the ongoing UEFA European Championship in France.

With England's embarrassing exit at the hands of Iceland on Monday, Stones will be free to complete a move to the Etihad, should City and Everton come to terms on a fee for the young defender.

But Sané's continued involvement with Germany means that any deal to take him to Manchester will have to wait until after the competition.
