Manchester City will sign Leroy Sané from Schalke 04, with the player agreeing terms on a four year contract with the Premier League club, according to reports in Germany.

German daily newspaper Bild is reporting that the Citizens will sign Sané for a staggering €50 million (around £44 million), with the player having already agreed to the terms of a four year contract at the Etihad.

New City boss Pep Guardiola has already completed the signings of Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito and Alexandr Zinchenko, and is showing no signs of stopping the spending yet.

It is thought that Sané has long been one of Guardiola's primary targets, with the Catalan tactician having communicated his dersire to take the 20-year-old to Manchester while still in charge at Bayern Munich last season.

Sané had a breakthrough season for Schalke in the Bundesliga during 2015-16, scoring eight goals and registering six assists in 33 league appearances.

The youngster's performances attracted the attention of Germany national team coach Joachim Lowe, who selected Sané in his 23 man squad for the UEFA European Championship in France.

Sané made only one appearance at the tournament, coming off the bench late in Germany's semi-final defeat to the host nation.

It had been rumoured that City were prepared to spend £30 million to secure their man, but it now seems that they have gone way beyond that mark.
