Crouch saves the day
Peter Crouch was the hero this evening at Anfield as his 88th minute goal rescued a point for Liverpool in a superb 2-2 draw at Anfield. Liverpool had taken the lead through Yossi Benayoun, but found their lead threatened through Marlon Harewood and a Fabio Aurelio own goal.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez fielded arguably his strongest side against Aston Villa - one of the club's main contenders for fourth spot - in a match which had plenty at stake.
Crouch's 88th-minute goal rescued the home side after Villa had scored twice in the space of three minutes against the run of play.
Villa substitute Marlon Harewood cancelled out Israeli Yossi Benayoun's first-half strike with his first touch of the game in the 69th minute before the visitors made it 2-1 with an own goal from Fabio Aurelio.
