Stoke join RVP chase

Former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has emerged as a target for Stoke City in this summer's transfer window.

The Potters have been making big strides over the past year with the likes of Giannelli Imbula and Xherdan Shaqiri switching their alliances to the Staffordshire outfit.

Mark Hughes is believed to be on the search for a top-class player this summer, and according to The Mail, Van Persie is among the big names in the shortlist.

The 32-year-old is desperate for a return to the Premier League over the summer following a rift with Fenerbahce manager Vitor Pereira.

Pereira showed reluctance to offer a full game of football to the Dutchman, and this has urged the player to seek pastures elsewhere.

Despite his struggles last season, Van Persie managed to net an impressive tally of 20 goals in all competitions for the Istanbul-based club.
