Besiktas open talks for Man Utd midfielder

Turkish champions Besiktas have began negotiations with Manchester United over a season-long loan for Bastian Schweinsteiger. The German international has failed to settle since his move from Bayern Munich last year.

Schweinsteiger surprised one and all last summer as he opted to end his 17-year association at Bayern to make a switch to the Premier League.

Since then, things have not gone as planned, with injuries and lack of fitness affecting his chances of earning any playing time in the first-team.

Fanatik suggests that Besiktas are looking into a temporary deal for the World Cup winner with an obligation to a permanent switch at the end of the 2016/17 season.

United boss Jose Mourinho has already indicated intentions to offload the 31-year-old. and it remains to be seen where he will ply his trade next season.

Schweinsteiger made just 18 league appearances for the Red Devils last term.
