Liverpool complete Georginio Wijnaldum signing

Liverpool have sealed the signing of Dutch attacker Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle United on a five-year contract.

The 25-year-old had been strongly tipped to make a top flight return following the Magpies' relegation to the Championship.

Talks over the player's transfer began as early as last week, and it is thought that a fee of around £25m has been settled for the agreement.

Wijnaldum will now travel with his new teammates on their pre-season tour of the United States.

"I'm really excited because Liverpool is a big club with a great history and it's always a dream to play for as big a club as Liverpool." Wijnaldum told the club's official website.

"[Jurgen Klopp seems] a great man - from the outside - because I don't know how he works yet and I have to work with him."

Wijnaldum netted 11 goals in 38 outings for Newcastle United in his debut top-flight campaign last term.
