Chelsea consider Nikola Maksimović bid

Chelsea are reportedly readying a bid for for Torino defender Nikola Maksimović. The Blues are desperate to bring in a new centre-back this summer after they failed in their pursuit of Leonardo Bonucci.

Antonio Conte's side were hot on the trail of Bonucci this month before Juventus ruled out his sale.

Since then, the Blues have been linked with Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly, but his £45m valuation seems beyond their reach.

According to The Mirror, the West London giants have turned their focus to Maksimovic, who is available for a fee of around £18m in the transfer window.

The 24-year-old joined the Serie A outfit from Red Star Belgrade in 2013, and has since appeared in over 60 league games.

He has also earned 12 caps with the Serbian national side with his debut coming against France in 2012.

Maksimović has two years left on his existing contract.
