Newcastle United want Ciaran Clark
Aston Villa's Ciaran Clark is the latest to be linked with a move to Newcastle United. The Magpies have been busy in the transfer market recruiting no more than five players this summer.
The Chronicle says Rafael Benitez is keen on pursuing the services of Clark as he looks to take his side to the top flight at the first time of asking.
Clark currently has a £4.5m release clause on his contract, but it is thought that the Villains will do their best to keep hold of their graduate.
The 26-year-old has appeared in over 150 games for the Villains since his first-team debut in 2009.
He was recently part of the Ireland squad that reached the round of 16 of the European championships.
Newcastle United have signed the likes of Dwight Gayle, Matt Richie, Jesus Gamez, Isaac Hayden and Grant Hanley in the transfer window.
