Man Utd set to offer €30m for Monaco's Fabinho
Manchester United have launched a €30 million move to sign Brazilian right-back Fabinho from AS Monaco, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish daily sports newspaper Marca is reporting that Manchester United have put the wheels in motion to sign Brazilian defender Fabinho from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, with a €30 million bid in the offing.
Fabinho has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford for some time now, and it seems as though the Red Devils could finally be set to make their move to sign the talented 22-year-old.
Fabinho has been at Monaco for the past two seasons, although he only signed permanently for the principality club last summer following a successful season-long loan from Rio Ave.
The Brazilian right-back has also spent a season on loan at Real Madrid earlier in his career, although he only made one first team appearance, and featured more regularly with the B team of the 11 time European champions.
United are thought to be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements, with recent reports suggesting the Red Devils are on the verge of making a move to sign José Fonte from Southampton.
And a right-back could also be on the agenda, as Mourinho has selected Antonio Valencia, usually a right winger, in the full-back role so far this season.
United added a new right-back to their squad last summer by signing Italian international Matteo Darmian from Torino for £14 million. But the 26-year-old has struggled to consistently show his best for at Old Trafford, and could now be set to return to Italy, with Napoli interested.
