Barcelona set to replace Man City-bound Bravo

FC Barcelona are closing in on the signing of Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen having agreed a five year deal with the Spanish champions, according to reports in the Netherlands.

Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf is reporting that Barcelona are close to completing the signing of Jasper Cillessen, and have even agreed personal terms on a five year contract with the Netherlands international stopper.

It is believed that the Blaugrana will pay around €16 million for the 27-year-old, as they search for a replacement for the Manchester City bound Chilean keeper Claudio Bravo.

Bravo is set to play his final game for Barcelona tonight, as the Spanish champions kick off their title defence against Real Betis at the Camp Nou this evening.

Bravo has been the first choice between the stick for Barça in league games for the past two season, with German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen starting Copa del Rey and Champions League matches.

However, that is set to change this season, as ter Stegen is due to be number one in all competitions this term, although the former Borussia Monchengladbach player is currently out injured.

It is thought that City will bay around €20 million for 32-year-old Bravo, who saved a penalty against Sevilla in the second leg of the Spanish supercup on Wednesday night.

Bravo’s switch to City will likely spell the end of Joe Hart’s time at the Etihad.
