The Brazilian wonderkid could be available for a lower price than previously thought

Manchester United could potentially land Brazilian teenage sensation Gabriel “Gabigol” Barbosa on the cheap` this summer, with his club Santos desperate for cash in order to avoid administration, according to reports in Brazil.

Brazilian media outlet Samba Foot are reporting that Santos may be willing to accept a lower offer for their star striker Gabriel “Gabigol” Barbosa, as the side who were famously represented by Pele battle against financial problems.

This could be good news for Manchester United, who are reportedly interested in signing the highly rated 19-year-old.

It was thought that the youngster would cost up to €35 million for any prospective buyer from Europe’s major leagues, but that may no longer be the case.

However, United are not the only side in the running to sign Gabigol. Premier League champions Leicester City have also been linked with a move for the Brazilian international, while Atlético Madrid, Juventus and FC Barcelona have all been credited with an interest in the exciting forward.

Barbosa is currently representing his country in the Olympic Football tournament in Brazil. The home nation will take on Germany this evening in the hope of securing their first ever football gold medal. Barbosa will likely start alongside Barça superstar Neymar and Manchester City’s recent signing Gabriel Jesus in attack.

The most likely option for any European club wishing to sign Barbosa, is that the player will be loaned back to Santos for the remainder of the Brazilian season, before joining up with his new side in January.
