Arsenal target Mustafi is not for sale

Valencia boss Ayesteran has ruled out selling the German defender

Valencia Manager Paco Ayesteran last night stated that Arsenal target Shkodran Mustafi will not be sold during the current transfer window.

Speaking after his side’s shock 4-2 defeat at home to Las Palmas in their opening La Liga fixture of the season, Valencia boss Ayesteran stated emphatically that star defender and Arsenal target Shkodran Mustafi is not for sale and will not be leaving the club before the end of the transfer window next week.

Mustafi was left out of the Valencia squad for last night’s game against Las Palmas, but the club claim that the 24-year-old German international is recovering from a minor injury.

Los Che could have done with Mustafi on the pitch last night as, despite a double from talented youngster Santi Mina, they conceded four times to La Liga minnows Las Palmas to fall to a surprise defeat.

It is thought that, following their struggle to secure a deal for World Cup winner Mustafi, Arsenal had turned their attention to signing West Bromwich Albion’s Norther Ireland international defender Jonny Evans.

But the Baggies have reportedly slapped a whopping £25 million price tag on the former Manchester United defender. The Gunners are unwilling to meet West Brom’s demands, and will instead turn to other targets.

It now appears most likely that Arsenal will make a move to sign AS Monaco’s versatile 23-year-old defender Marcel Tisserand. The Ligue 1 defender is capable of playing as either a left-back or centre-back, and should be available for around half the price West Brom are demanding for Evans.
