Man Utd tell Spurs Schneiderlin is not for sale

Will Spurs come back for Schneiderlin in January?

Manchester United have informed Tottenham Hotspur that Morgan Schneiderlin is not for sale, and that any bid for the Frenchman will be rejected, according to multiple reports.

Both Jamie Jackson of The Guardian and Paul Hirst of The Times are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur made an enquiry over the availability of Morgan Scnheiderlin in the last seven days, and were informed by Manchester United that the French midfielder is not for sale.

Spurs are in the hunt for midfield reinforcements as the summer transfer window approaches its deadline, despite the addition of Victor Wanyama from Southampton earlier in the window.

Schneiderlin was on Tottenham’s radar two years ago when he was still at Southampton. Spurs made an offer for the Frenchman which the Saints rejected, causing Schneiderlin to vent his frustration via social media.

But, 12 months later, it was United who secured his signature, fending off rival interest from Spurs and Arsenal to sign the midfielder for £25 million.

Scheiderlin has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Red Devils’ starting line up since moving to Old Trafford, and has only played five minutes of Premier League football – by virtue of coming on as a late substitute in the 3-1 opening weekend win away at Bournemouth -- since José Mourinho took over from Louis van Gaal.

Despite being knocked back in their enquiry, Spurs will keep tabs on Schneiderlin with a view to a January move.
