Evans to be offered fresh Baggies contract

West Bromwich Albion are prepared to offer a fresh contract to Jonny Evans after their snubbed an approach from Arsenal in the transfer window.



The Northern Irishman was a key player for the Baggies last season as they stayed clear of Premier League relegation.

According to The Telegraph, the West Midlands side will reward the 28-year-old with an improved deal which will see his wages rise to 75,000-a-week, a 150 percent hike on his present salary

Evans was the subject of a £15m bid from the Gunners this summer, but the Baggies were firm that they would not accept anything less than £25m for their asset.

The Gunners therein followed to recruit a younger option in Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia for a fee of around £35m.

Evans has appeared in 37 outings for the Baggies since linking up from Manchester United in the summer of 2015. He was recently part of the Northern Ireland squad that reached the last 16 of the European championships in France.
