West Ham stall on Bilic contract talks

Slaven Bilic under pressure

West Ham United have slowed down negotiations over a fresh contract with Slaven Bilic following the club's dreaded form in the Premier League this season.

The Croatian coach was expected to be offered a new deal at the start of 2017 with initial discussions having began several months ago.

But, the Hammers have gone through a dismal spell in recent months with just two wins in all competitions since their season began in late July.

It is now thought that the extension will be put on hold, and the 48-year-old could well be sacked, should the Hammers fail to gain momentum in the next couple of games.

You normally don't have to wait that long to find out how it's going to go," a West Ham insider said. “Half a dozen games usually tells you what you need to know."

West Ham United are currently placed 18th in the league with a solitary win in five outings.
