The former Liverpool man could sign a new deal this year

FC Barcelona striker Luis Suarez could be set to sign a new deal to extend his stay at the Camp Nou before Christmas, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish sports newspaper Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Fc Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez is set to sign a bumper new contract, with the Uruguayan potentially putting pen to paper on his new deal before Christmas.

Suarez signed for Barça from Liverpool in a £65 million deal in the summer of 2014, and has since gone on to score 92 goals in 106 appearances for the Blaugrana.

The 29-year-old has formed a fearsome understanding with fellow South American attacking stars Lionel Messi and Neymar, with the trio daubed the ‘MSN’.

Suarez earned his big money move to Catalonia thanks to an outstanding season with Liverpool in 2013-14 in which he scored 31 league goals and was named PFA Player of the Year for his part in helping the Reds mount a serious title challenge.

In three and a half seasons at Anfield, Suarez netted 82 goals in 133 appearances. His record at Ajax, whom he left to join Liverpool in January 2011 for £23 million, was equally as impressive, as he scored 111 goals in 159 games for the Dutch club.

The 86 cap Uruguay international is widely regarded as one of the finest strikers on the planet, and he is expected to agree a new contract that will bring his close to the earnings of team mates Messi and Neymar.
