Schweini wanted at Santos

Santos manager Dorival Junior has admitted that he is interested in a winter deal for unsettled Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The former German international has failed to kick the ball for United this season with manager Jose Mourinho still not convinced with his abilities.

The 32-year-old has been linked with a whole host of clubs since the start of September, and Dorival believes he could lure the World Cup winner to Brazil in the New Year.

"My idea, and I've tried to convince the board of Santos, is that Santos need a player with worldwide recognition," he told UOL Esporte.

"We've been looking at names at European clubs who are suddenly not being used and who could fit this profile. [Bastian Schweinsteiger] fits this profile."

Schweinsteiger has recently been allowed to train with the first-team squad, and there is the possibility he could make the bench for the clash against West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.
