Inters Conte Interest Set To Intensify

Conte may be a target for Inter

Inter Milan's main target to take over as manager, Diego Simeone, has today expressed his desire to stay with Atletico Madrid, according to Spanish media, meaning that second target Antonio Conte is set to be pursued by Nerazzurri.

Inter Milan are currently managed by Stefano Pioli, but new owners are keen to see Inter return to the top of Italian football, and are expected to fire Pioli if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Former player, Diego Simeone, who has previously expressed a desire to return to the club as a manager, has been on the receiving end of speculation regarding his future at current club Atletico Madrid. According to Spanish newspaper AS today, Simeone has told Atletico directors that he intends to stay and has started planning for next season.

This means that Inter may look to make a move for second choice, Antonio Conte, who was yesterday rumoured to be looking at the possibility of leaving Chelsea, due to feeling homesick in the English Capital.

If Inter do qualify for the Champions League, they may decide to stick with Pioli and wait for Simeone's contract to expire next year.
