Chelsea face Man City competition for Boro defender
Premier League leaders Chelsea are due to face stiff competition from Manchester City for the services of Middlesbrough's Ben Gibson this summer.
The 24-year-old has been one of the standout performers for Boro in their top-flight return, and though, the club have struggled of late, he remains a priority signing for two of England's elite.
The Star reports that both the Blues are lining up a move for the defender in the summer transfer window, but they could yet face competition from rivals City.
Pep Guardiola's side are expected to recruit a central defender to their ranks, and Gibson is regarded as the preferred option given his recent experienced in the top division.
Gibson is currently valued by Middlesbrough at around £25m, and the club are likely to cash in on his signature regardless of their league status come the end of the season.
Middlesbrough are currently three points adrift of safety following a run of 10 games without a victory.
