Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu insists that he is 'very happy' with his role at St.Mary's despite talks of Barcelona wanting to re-sign him in the summer.

The 25-year-old began his career with the Catalan giants for whom he made just two appearances before heading to Chelsea in the summer of 2011.

He followed to struggle for playing time during his spell in west London with loan stints at Valencia and Stuttgart to boost before heading to Southampton on a permanent deal in 2015.

Romeu has been ever-present for Claude Puel's side during the ongoing campaign, and his displays in midfield have captured the attention of the Spanish champions.

In a report on The Southampton Echo, the former La Masia student admitted that he will not give up his current position at the South Coast despite being the subject of interest from his former employers.

"I've been at Chelsea and Barcelona and haven't played, and I don't want to have this feeling," Romeu told the source. "I'm feeling very happy here, and I won't give this away."

Romeu inked a fresh four-and-a-half year deal with Southampton in January this year, and he is committed to the club's cause as they push for a better end to their Premier League campaign.

Southampton are currently placed tenth in the league standings with 33 points.
