Real Madrid and Portugal defender Pepe will be on the move in the summer. After originally looking like he was set for a transfer to China, Manchester City and another European giant are looking into acquiring the experienced defender.

Pepe has been at the heart of Real Madrid's defence for a decade now. As his time at the Santiago Bernabeu comes to an end, several clubs are showing interest in him. Initially, Pepe was linked with a move to the Chinese Super League for a reunion with Manuel Pellegrini at Hebei China Fortune. Now however, Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain look set to change his mind.

According to Football Whispers, Pepe is having doubts about whether or not a move to China will effect his chances of making Portugal's 2018 World Cup squad. By staying in Europe, Pepe is more likely to be playing at a higher level than that of the Chinese Super League.

Despite his age, thirty four year old Pepe has the potential to be a great signing for Manchester City. He has plenty of experience of playing at the highest level, meaning that he could help to tighten up the Manchester City back line that has looked questionable on numerous occasions this season. He would also act as a mentor to the younger City defenders, helping develop them for years to come.
