Alex Sandro on Gunners shortlist

Arsenal are prepared to lodge an attempt to sign Juventus' Alex Sandro as they seek to strengthen the left-back position in the coming transfer window.

The Gunners have endured yet another mixed campaign in the Premier League this term, and it would require a stunning effort in order to finish in the top-four - a feat achieved in each season under Arsene Wenger.

According to TransferMarketWeb, the north London are willing to cough up a £30m sum for Sandro as they seek to find a suitable competitor to Nacho Monreal on the left side of the backline.

Monreal has been the favourite under Wenger to occupy the left-back position, but there is still the need for reinforcements as backup Kieran Gibbs does not present much confidence on the playing field.

Gibbs' current deal is due to expire at the end of next season, and it is predicted that he could be offloaded when the transfer window reopens in July.

On the other hand, the Gunners could face potential competition to secure the services of Sandro with Manchester City and Real Madrid also keeping a close eye on his proceedings.
