Lindelof back on United radar

Manchester United will seek to retain their interest in Benfica's Victor Lindelof prior to this summer's transfer window.

The Sweden international had been heavily tipped for a move to Old Trafford with sources in January suggesting that the player had already picked his squad player.

However, the move was not meant to be with Jose Mourinho satisfied with the progress of Phil Jones and Marcus Rojo, who had then formed an impeccable central defensive partnership.

According to The Mirror, the Red Devils will revive their pursuit of Lindelof in the summer with Mourinho likely to strengthen across all departments of his squad.

Lindelof has the potential to play at either right-back or central defence, and it is this versatility which appears to have attracted interest from Mourinho.

Antonio Valencia has done fairly well in the right-back spot this term, but there is still the lack of sufficient backup with Matteo Darmian and Ashley Young mulling over potential exits this summer.

Manchester United will start off negotiations with an initial £40m bid, although the deal could potentially rise to £50m with the player having inked a fresh contract last month.
