Atletico Madrid ready fresh contract for Antoine Griezmann
Atletico Madrid are reportedly prepared to keep hold of Antoine Griezmann by offering him a new contract with a significant pay rise.
The France international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, and Atleti would be helpless, should the Red Devils decide to match his £85m release clause.
However, according to The Times, the La Liga outfit could have the option of offering the Frenchman with a new deal which could increase or eliminate his escape clause altogether.
Griezmann currently earns around £6.7m a year after tax, and Atleti are prepared to provide him with a 50 percent increase in order to secure his long-term future.
The former Real Sociedad ace has regularly iterated his commitment towards the Spanish giants, and he could be urged to sign the extension with United yet to be assured of Champions League football for next season.
Manchester United can qualify for the elite competition via a top-four finish in the league or by lifting the Europa League crown.
