Fallen Serie A giants AC Milan have managed to secure the signature of Atalanta BC midfielder Franck Kessie on a two-year loan contract.

The Ivory Coast international had attracted interest from both Manchester City and Chelsea, but he opted to stay put in the Serie A with the Rossoneri.

Kessie becomes the Rossoneri's second signing of the summer transfer window after having wrapped up a deal for Mateo Musacchio from Villareal last week.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the club have sealed his services on a two-year loan deal with the obligation to acquire his rights at the end of his contract.

Kessie bagged six league goals for Atalanta during the previous campaign as they finished a record fourth place in the Italian Serie A.

He had been initially tipped to join AS Roma in the summer, but the Rossoneri managed to offer him a better wage package in order to lure him to the San Siro.

Milan are due to continue on their spending spree this summer after having already held advanced discussions to seal a club-record deal for Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.
