Liverpool interested in Sporting winger
Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for Sporting winger Gelson Martins during the summer transfer window. The Portugal international was a transfer target for Manchester United last year.
Martins, 22, has emerged as an option to bolster the Reds attack after they clinched Champions League qualification via a top-four finish in the Premier League.
A whole host of players have been linked with the Merseyside outfit in recent weeks, but Klopp has placed his focus on pursuing the highly-rated attacker.
According to A Bola, Martins is among the top names on Klopp's summer shortlist as he prepares to add more options in the frontline.
Liverpool were often found short of players in the attacking department owing to injuries last season, and the German coach is hoping to avoid such an instance as they prepare for European football.
Martins currently has a hefty release clause of £52m on his contract, but Sporting could be willing to negotiate a lesser sum for his signature.
The Portuguese attacker has been earmarked as a potential alternative to Mohamed Salah with AS Roma reluctant to place a price on their asset.
