Ibrahimovic likely to leave Manchester United

Zlatan Ibrahimovic news

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be a free agent at the end of the week

Zlatan Ibrahimovic had a fantastic debut season with Manchester United in the Premier League. Despite critics saying it was too late for him to have an impact, the Sweden legend finished the season as The Red Devils' top scorer.

Sky sources today are suggesting that when the list of released players is announced at the end of the week, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be one of them.

Ibrahimovic's one year contract had the option to be extended by a further year if both parties agreed. He looked certain to be offered that extra year until he picked up a major knee injury against Anderlecht in the Europa League.

He has not played since that night and is not expected to until the new year. Many believed that United would keep him at the club to use in the second half of the season and also to pass on his experience to the younger players.

Latest developments suggest now however that Ibrahimovic will be released this week in order to free up some of the wage budget and redistribute it to new signings.

Figures that were recently released revealed that Ibrahimovic is currently earning an annual salary of £19 million, a considerable amount of money that could be used to attract new players to Old Trafford.
