Ousmane Dembele confirms Barcelona link

Borussia Dortmund forward Ousmane Dembele has admitted that Barcelona had been in contact last year with regards to a potential move to Spain. The French international scored for his country against England in an international friendly last week.

Ousmane has been touted as one of the finest young players in Europe after a number of top quality performances for Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

Barcelona proved to be amongst the clubs to spot his talents early on and the player confirmed that the Camp Nou side were in contact: "Last year I was in contact with the sporting director [Robert Fernandez]."

Dembele has since confirmed that he will stay at Borussia Dortmund despite interest from abroad and his long-term future will be with the Bundesliga side. Dembele has recently opened conversations with his club regarding a new contract.

Arsenal and Liverpool are amongst the clubs who have been linked with a transfer move for Dembele in recent weeks but have yet to table an official offer.
