Donnarumma to remain committed for final year of his Milan contract

AC Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli has insisted that Gianluigi Donnarumma will be going nowhere this summer despite his recent decision to snub a fresh contract.

The teenage goalkeeper has just 12 months left on his present Rossoneri deal, and this led to suggestions that he could join one of Manchester United or Real Madrid come the summer transfer window.

However, Mirabelli has assured that Donnarumma will stay put at San Siro although the club pose the risk of losing him on a free transfer next summer.

"Donnarumma is a great champion, a great guy and a Milan player," he told Sportitalia. "For this next season, he will certainly play with us still."

The Milan giants are currently under the ownership of a Chinese consortium, who have splashed cash to bolster the overall shape of the squad.

Donnarumma, who was ever-present in the Serie A last season, was key to the Rossoneri's sixth place finish, and he could be expected to play a similar role with a new look side, who aim to break Juventus' dominance.
