Antonio Conte provides fresh update on Pedro injury

Antonio Conte confirms Pedro injury

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has revealed that Pedro was substituted in the goalless draw against Arsenal on Sunday as he was carrying a minor ankle injury. The Spain international missed a glorious chance to score in the first half after which he sustained the knock.

Pedro managed to play through the first 45 minutes with minor discomfort, but Conte decided to take no risks by bringing in Tiemoue Bakayoko in the second period.

In a report covered by ESPN, Conte confirmed that he made the change after Pedro failed to overcome the problem while bringing more balance in the midfield.

"He was a bit injured because he got a kick on his ankle. I changed things to put more balance in the midfield," he is quoted as saying by ESPN.

Despite the change, Chelsea could not stamp their authority over their north London counterparts, who produced a solid performance in the 0-0 draw.

As a result, Conte's side have fallen three points adrift of joint-leaders Manchester City and Manchester United, who both clinched convincing wins over the weekend.
