Belgian international Marouane Fellaini has opted against extending his deal at Manchester United as the club's offer does not match his demands.

The Red Devils have a policy of tabling one-year rolling contracts for players aged over 30, and this is something he is not in favour of.

According to The Mail, Fellaini's representatives feel that he is worthy of a long-term contract owing to his recent showing, and this has stalled contractual discussions.

Fellaini has been a regular substitute since the start of the season, but he made his first start during the 4-0 thumping of former club Everton last weekend.

Jose Mourinho has previously highlighted the importance of Fellaini to his first-team squad, and it looks unlikely that the midfielder will sign an extension under the current condition.

Fellaini, who was the subject of interest from Galatasaray in the summer, will be free to finalise a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January - with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
