AC Milan in contact with Antonio Conte?

AC Milan's hierarchy have reportedly made contact with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte as they mull over a possible replacement for Vincenzo Montella.

The Rossoneri have made an average start to the Serie A campaign with disappointing defeats to Sampdoria and Lazio putting them six points behind league leaders Napoli.

Montella is already under the pressure to perform following recent results, and the upcoming games against AS Roma and Inter Milan are likely to decide his managerial fate.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have already made initial contact with potential successors which include Antonio Conte and Bayern Munich's Carlo Ancelotti.

Conte signed an improved deal at Stamford Bridge earlier in the summer without extending the length of his contract - beyond 2019.

He has previously suggested that he does intend to stay in the Premier League for 'too long', but he will nevertheless honour his Blues contract.

AC Milan will be in Europa League action on Thursday night when they host Croatian outfit Rijeka in their second group stage outing.
