Arsenal players tease Alexis Sanchez over failed Man City move

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has been teased by his Gunners' teammates after he failed to seal a deadline-day move to Manchester City, young striker Chuba Akpom has revealed.

The Mancunian giants were on the cusp of securing Sanchez's services last month with the Gunners having agreed on a £75m for his proposed sale.

However, the deal could not go through before the transfer deadline with Arsene Wenger unable to sign Monaco's Thomas Lemar, who had been earmarked as a potential replacement.

Sanchez has since returned the first-team fold scoring a brilliant curler in the 3-1 win over Koln in the Europa League earlier this month.

In a report covered by The Star, Akpom revealed that he and some of his teammates do regularly remind Sanchez over the failed transfer.

He said: "We do banter about it to be fair, but at the end of the day, he's still at Arsenal. Everyone is happy, the fans are happy and he's happy."

Sanchez has started the previous two games for the Gunners across all competitions, and he will be hoping to regain his best form ahead of the crunch World Cup qualifiers for Chile next month.

The Copa America holders face must win games against both Ecuador and Brazil, if they are to make next year's showpiece tournament in Russia.
