Former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie could reportedly rejoin Feyenoord from Fenerbahce in the New Year. The Netherlands international came close to leaving the Istanbul giants in the summer, but a deal never materialised.

The 34-year-old has notched 36 goals during his two-year spell with Fenerbahce but it is understood that the club are prepared to cut ties with the Dutchman at the turn of the year.

According to Turkish outlet Aksam, Feyenoord have expressed their interest in the veteran marksman, who scored 22 goals in 78 outings for them prior to joining Arsenal in 2004.

The Dutchman has had a string of injuries over the course of his professional career, but he has still managed to maintain a good scoring record with 248 strikes in 542 appearances.

Van Persie recently earned his comeback to the national side after a two-year break, but his return was restricted to just one game against France after he sustained a lengthy knee injury. He is currently the Netherlands' all-time goal getter with 50 goals in 101 caps.
