Sanchez a doubt for Hornets clash - Wenger

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted that he will have to assess the mental situation of Alexis Sanchez prior to Saturday's late Premier League kickoff at Watford.

The Chilean suffered a major heartbreak during the international break after his nation failed to qualify for the World Cup.

The Copa America holders suffered a damaging 3-0 defeat to Brazil on Tuesday night, and this condemned them to the sixth spot in the CONMEBOL table following a win and a draw for Argentina and Peru respectively.

Speaking ahead of the Gunners' visit to Vicarage Road, Wenger stressed that the attacker received some special treatment from his opponents during the final set of World Cup qualifiers.

Adding to this, the Frenchman revealed the Chilean will be assessed prior to the weekend clash, although he gave no assurances of Sanchez making the lineup.

"I will have to speak to him. Yesterday[Tuesday night], I watched the whole game and I must say he got some special treatment. It was very physical and mentally I will have to assess the situation." he told reporters, as per Metro.

Despite Sanchez's disappointment, Wenger is confident that it will have no impact on the club's campaign as he and Aaron Ramsey - who faced a similar heartbreak with Wales, are 'winners'.
