Tottenham Hotspur plan to beat Arsenal to experienced Premier League defender

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly lining up a summer move for West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans, who could be available for just £3m.
Spurs are currently assessing the future of Toby Alderweireld, and his reluctance to sign a new contract beyond 2019, could see them sanction his sale during the summer.
Should this be the case, Spurs could be tempted to pursue a deal for Evans, who is likely to be available on a cut-price deal, The Telegraph reports.
West Brom are facing the prospect of being relegated after eight seasons in the top-flight, and their drop would automatically trigger activate a release clause of just £3m in Evans' contract.
Evans has managed nearly 100 appearances for the Baggies since his move from Manchester United in 2015, and his performances have also caught the eye of Spurs' rivals Arsenal.
The Gunners had made an £8m approach for Evans prior to the winter transfer deadline, but the Baggies rebuffed the offer as they had little time to find a suitable replacement.
