Jurgen Klopp updates on Mohamed Salahs injury

Salah could make comeback versus City - Salah

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp is optimistic that Mohamed Salah can make his injury comeback during tomorrow's Champions League quarter-final tie against Manchester City.

The Egypt international sustained a groin injury during the first-leg of the double-legged tie, and this saw him substituted in the early stages of the second period.

As a result, the 25-year-old missed the Merseyside derby against Everton, where the Reds were rather lucky to have come up with a goalless stalemate.

Speaking ahead of the City game, Klopp was not 100 per cent sure of Salah's involvement, but was positive about the attacker's return to competitive action in midweek.

He said: "Not sure 100 per cent. He was with the fitness coach yesterday training," he is quoted as saying on the club's official website on Monday.

"Now I am here, at 5pm we train at Melwood and we will see if he can be part of training. I’d say rather yes than no. Then we wait for the reaction and make a decision tomorrow."

Salah has been a revelation for Liverpool this term with 37 goals across all competitions. Out of those, seven of them have come in the Champions League including the opener in the 3-0 triumph over City in the quarter-final first-leg.
