Jose Mourinho has three-man shortlist to replace Chris Smalling
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly made up a three-man shortlist to replace Chris Smalling at Old Trafford during the summer.
The England international has been the preferred choice for a centre-back role this term, but according to The Mirror, Mourinho is not entirely pleased with the centre-back's impact at the back.
Smalling has provided a couple of key goals for the club of late, but the defensive side of his game has come under question owing to his poor positioning.
As per The Mirror, Mourinho has brought up a list of three names including Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Marquinhos in order to replace the former Fulham graduate.
However, the former is said to be the more feasible among the targets as he could be available for a relatively cheaper sum compared to the rest in the summer.
Maguire has already jumped ahead of Smalling in the national team reckoning, and he is expected to feature for the Three Lions in the summer World Cup finals in Russia.
