Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud insists leaving Arsenal was easy
France international Olivier Giroud has revealed that it was an easy decision to leave Arsenal for Chelsea during the winter transfer window.
The 31-year-old raised a few eyebrows in the backend of the January transfer window as he made a shock cross-town switch to join the Blues.
Giroud has since had a mixed bag in terms of performances, but he has no regrets about joining the Blues, who he considers as the best club in England.
He told The Sun: "When I had the opportunity to join Chelsea and stay in the Premier League, it was easy. That Arsenal page is finished now and it's a new chapter for my career.
"Now I am 100 per cent focused on the Blues and achieving our targets. I am at the best club in England in recent years because Chelsea have won more trophies than anyone else."
Giroud has been playing second fiddle to Alvaro Morata over the past few weeks, but he managed to make a huge impression on Antonio Conte during the Blues' stunning comeback win over Southampton.
The west London looked dead and buried after conceding two goals before the hour mark at St Marys', but Giroud managed to spearhead the second-half comeback with a brace in a 3-2 triumph.
