Jose Mourinho confirms plans for midfield signings
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has indicated that the club are likely to pursue two midfielders in order to overcome the absence of Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini during the summer.
Carrick has already announced his decision to hang up his boots at the end of the campaign whilst Fellaini's future remains uncertain with the Belgian yet to prolong his stay beyond the summer.
In a report covered by the Manchester Evening News, Mourinho confirmed that the club will no doubt strengthen the midfield department and this may involve a couple of signings.
He said: "We are going to invest the basic to improve our squad. We need to find a replacement for Michael Carrick, if Marouane Fellaini leaves, we need to find a replacement for Marouane Fellaini."
Manchester United reached their 20th final of the FA Cup after beating Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend and they will now face Chelsea at the Wembley next month.
Meanwhile, their immediate focus will shift towards their Premier League campaign where they require another seven points to secure the second position. United entertain Arsenal at Old Trafford this weekend.
