Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has thanked Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for helping realise his dreams of playing in the Premier League.

The 68-year-old confirmed that he would be ending his 22-year tenure with the club in the summer and Giroud left a tribute message for his compatriot on Twitter.

"Thank you for giving me the opportunity to make my childhood dream comes true.A huge respect for your resilience and your full commitment to the Arsenal over these 22 years.I improved so much alongside you on and off the pitch thanks to your support and your trust over the years!." the tweet read.

Giroud had stayed committed to the Gunners for more than five seasons but the lack of regular gametime meant that he had to pursue a fresh challenge in January in order to enhance his World Cup prospects.

The Frenchman faced a similar situation during his opening months at Chelsea but since his stunning performance at St Mary's, he has become the first-choice marksman ahead of Alvaro Morata.

Giroud bagged an excellent brace during the 3-2 comeback win over Southampton last weekend and he has continued to score once against the same opposition on Sunday to propel his team to the FA Cup final.
