Cedric Soares on United radar

Manchester United have reportedly added Southampton defender Cedric Soares to their shortlist of targets for the summer transfer window.

United boss Jose Mourinho is expected to reinforce the defensive and midfield departments in the summer and there is a particular emphasis on the full-back positions.

According to M.E.N, Mourinho is keen on signing long-term replacements for Valencia and Young, who will be turning 33 prior to the start of the next campaign.

It is added that Soares has been added to the list of targets to replace Valencia and United are optimistic that they can sign him on a cut-price deal, if Southampton are relegated.

Soares has not had the best of seasons at club level but he still remains a crucial player for the Portuguese national side, who are presently the European champions.

Manchester United are currently placed second in the standings and they require another seven points in order to secure their position for the season.
