Arsene Wenger confirms fresh injury concern for Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Mkhitaryan doubtful for Atleti game

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan had picked up a knee injury which saw him substituted against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Armenian managed to find the scoresheet versus his former employers on the day but shortly after, he was forced off the field with Danny Welbeck replacing him.

Following the game, Arsene Wenger confirmed that Mkhitaryan has sustained a knock on his knee and he is unsure whether the attacker will be fit in time for the Atletico game.

"We will see if Henrikh Mkhitaryan is available for Thursday. I took him off because he had a bang on his knee," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport on Sunday.

Arsenal succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United over the weekend but the performance was still a positive one with a number of young players getting a run-in.

The Capital outfit now have an away Europa League semi-final tie against Atletico Madrid and they must find the scoresheet in order to stay alive in the competition.
