Antoine Griezmann nearing Atletico Madrid exit?
Barcelona are reported to have agreed on a £100m package to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid at the end of the season. The France international has been a credible performer for Atleti in recent years but he is said to be keen on a fresh challenge prior to this summer's World Cup.
Ernesto Valverde's side have heavily been tipped to join the Blaugrana over the past few months and this recently prompted Atleti to publicly criticise the Catalans - after club president Josep Maria Bartomeu confirmed talks with the player's entourage.
According to The Sun, Griezmann presently has an £88m release clause in his existing deal but the Blaugrana are prepared to pay an additional sum in order to facilitate the transfer and restore their fruiful relationship with Atleti.
Griezmann was initially tipped to leave Madrid at the end of last season but his proposed move to Manchester United did not materialise after Atleti fail to overcome their transfer embargo.
He has since had a stop-start season with the Capital outfit but his form has generally improved over the second half of the campaign. Griezmann is expected to feature Atleti on Wednesday night when they contest Marseille in the Europa League final.
