Liverpool defender in line for contract extension
Liverpool are reportedly considering a new long-term deal for defender Joe Gomez, who is currently undergoing his rehabilitation following an ankle problem.
The former Charlton ace was rewarded with a fresh five-year contract back in January 2017 and he has since impressed under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp.
As such, the club's hierarchy are prepared to discuss fresh terms with the versatile defender despite his progress being halted with yet another season-ending injury.
According to The Sun, Gomez, who made 30 appearances during the recently concluded season, will witness his wages rise to £50,000 per week - upon him signing a new contract.
Gomez has plyed his trade for Liverpool in every defensive position since joining them in 2015 but he has yet to spend a lengthy period without getting injured.
The Englishman was among the leading contenders to make the Three Lions World Cup squad but unfortunately, he suffered a long-term ankle injury which required an operation earlier this month.
