Jose Mourinho keen to know Real Madrid's stance on Bale

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly enquired with Real Madrid over the possibility of signing Gareth Bale this summer.

The Red Devils have constantly been linked with Bale over the past few seasons and the Welshman recently hinted that he could leave the Bernabeu after starting from the bench in the Champions League final.

Since then, manager Zinedine Zidane has handed in his resignation at the European champions and this has increased Bale's chances of staying put in the Spanish capital.

According to ESPN, Mourinho wants to discover whether Los Blancos would part ways with the Welshman regardless of who is appointed as Zidane's successor.

Should United get the green light, they may still have to cough up a club-record fee of around £120m in order to prise away Bale from the Champions League holders.

Bale, who has four years left on his contract with Real Madrid, starred in the Champions League final with a stunning brace. He ended the campaign with 21 goals across all competitions.
