Manchester United to announce midfielder signing next week

Manchester United are reportedly confident of announcing the arrival of midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk within the next week.

The Red Devils agreed on an initial £46m fee to sign the Brazilian earlier in the month and they confirmed the same on their official website.

However, they are yet to formally register the midfielder due to a work permit which they are expecting to sort out in a week's time, Sky Sports News reports.

Fred enjoyed a fine season with Shakhtar last term registering four goals and a further seven assists across all competitions and he is currently with the Brazilian national team for the World Cup.

The 25-year-old recently suffered an ankle injury following a tackle from compatriot Casemiro but manager Tite is confident that the midfielder will recover in time for the World Cup opener against Switzerland.

Besides Fred, United have confirmed the signing of versatile full-back Diogo Dalot from FC Porto for a reported fee of around £19.3m. The Portuguese was presented in the United shirt last week.
